AQWA

It’s Slime Time at AQWA until 31st October. Get ready for a whole lot of slimey, gooey, sticky and of course educational fun! Discover how sea creatures use slime to survive in our oceans, how it’s made and what they use it for, from the surface to the deep seas. We went along and got our slime on!

Throughout AQWA there are interesting facts and figures on slime follow the trail and find out how it helps our sea creatures. There is a theatre presentation about slime surfers and all things gooey that live deep in our oceans. Plus four daily slimey activities to try.

First off at 11am was Parrotfish bubble making challenge, the kids got to experiment with some super slimey bubbles just like parrotfish blow to sleep in!

Next up we visited the colouring station and got our slimey sea creature mask to decorate at the coral reef. We got a slime tattoo at 1pm in Adventure Bay, which is a great space for the activities and has a toddlers play ground, covered seating area in the outdoor auditorium and picnic benches for lunch.

We stayed here until it was time to Make your own slime at 1.30pm in Adventure Bay, this was the stickiest activity of them all and great fun but be sure to have your wipes at the ready, it’s a hands in activity!

Our educator involved all the children brilliantly, as the glue and goo was poured into the bowls to make the slime she engaged the children in conversations about algae, what it is, what its role in the ecosystem and how it is made. The little ones had a ball making it sticker, adding colour and glitter! At the end of the activity they were each given a bag of the slime to take home....parental warning watch out this slime is sticky!!

There are all the usual sheduled feeding and presentations throughout the day and the bouncy castle was up when we went with probably the best view a bouncy castle can have looking out across Hillary’s.

Get your spook on and head to the kids Halloween party on the 31st October, lots of spooky fun, food and a disco. Check out the website for further details.

Aqua Jetty - Rockingham

Aqua Jetty leisure centre is at the heart of Rockingham’s community, it’s the only aquatic and recreational centre in the area and has so much to offer the whole family.  Open all year round aqua jetty has a 50m heated outdoor pool and a heated 25m indoor pool providing recreational and lap swimming. There is also a large leisure pool with toddler beach entry and sprinklers.      The leisure pool has a large slide open Monday - Friday from 4-5pm, Saturday 10.30am - 3.30pm and Sunday from 12.30pm - 2.30pm, there is also a whirl pool in the leisure pool area. Having all these facilities under one roof makes a great day out especially if you have children of different ages and swimming abilities.    There are so many facilities at aqua jetty it really is worth checking out if you are in the local area these include; a hydro pool, a great crèche ($6 per 2h per child for non members or $4.40 per 2h, per child for members) a cafe, outdoor grassed areas with new BBQ facilities, an outdoor pla

Take five Ice Cream Parlour

Take 5 Ice Cream Parlour - Baldivis Square Hot day? Take 5 and go get some ice cream from Take 5 Ice Cream Parlour in Baldivis Square, it’s truely delicious! We went along to check it out and now understand why the locals queue up outside this ice cream shop, it’s just the best ice cream.   We couldn’t choose which flavours to try they all looked so good. We eventually decided on the Ferrero, their current sell out ice cream. Salted caramel with swirls of real caramel, Bounty for the coconut lover, Banana and Nutella (my absolute favourite) and a scoop of Strawberry Sorbet for our little Miss and we were not disappointed! Fresh creamy ice cream and tangy sorbet all packed full of real flavour.    They are always trying out new and exciting flavours and combinations like white chocolate and tim tams, a pineapple sorbet and caramel slice; see their facebook page for updates and promotions.    I honestly can’t wait to go back and try some of the other flavours on offer, the waffles and fr
