Logue Brook Dam @ Lake Brockman

If you are thinking of going camping over the next long weekend or in the school holidays why don't you check out Logue Brook Dam on Lake Brockman. Situated in the Darling Scarp near the town of Yarloop about an hour and half's drive south of Perth, you'll find Lake Brockman provides the perfect backdrop to pitch a tent and relax in the great outdoors for the weekend, plus the sunsets over the dam are pretty special! 
 

The beautiful fresh water lake is a popular spot for weekend water ski-ing, wake boarding, kayaking and swimming. Fishing is also a popular pass time here with trout available all year round and Marron in-season (check with the tourist park about permits). There are also plenty of nature trails, walks and bike rides in and around the forest which surrounds the lake. 
 

There are two different styles of camp sites available you can either opt for Lake Brokman Tourist Park which has both powered and non powered sites these are all situated in the forest and have access to showers and toilet blocks. Sites 18, 30, 32, 34 -36 have views of the dam which can be requested on booking. Powered sites are $36 per night for 2 adults and $8 for children over the age of 6.
 

Or there is Logue Brook where we stayed, the campground has recently been redeveloped replacing camping on the banks of the dam, all sites are non powered and are situated in the forest with some over looking the dam. Sites 2-3, 5-10 and 12 all have views over the dam and can be requested at time of booking. Each site has its own flat area and parking space for your car and or caravan,  along with a picnic table and benches and a fire pit (check with the tourist park on restrictions). There are sheltered BBQ areas with seating and non flushing toilets which are clean and checked daily. The campsite itself does not have drinking water so be sure to take plenty for the weekend! It costs $10 per night for adults and $2.50 for children over the age of 6 making it a really affordable family weekend away exploring the countryside. We had the best weekend!
 

For those who don't want to camp their are cabins are two bedroom with reverse cycle air con and a kitchenette these start at $110 per night and accommodate 4 persons. The tourist park has a cafe serving fresh Devonshire teas and refreshments over looking the lakeside, a small shop selling a good variety of essentials  just in case you forget the odd thing or two and brand new play park has been built for the little ones. It is a really family orientated area with something for everyone!
 

On route home its well worth driving towards the coast and spend the morning 4WD along Preston beach you will be rewarded with the outstanding beauty of the natural coast line and be sure to find a spot all to yourself!

Take five Ice Cream Parlour

Take 5 Ice Cream Parlour - Baldivis Square Hot day? Take 5 and go get some ice cream from Take 5 Ice Cream Parlour in Baldivis Square, it’s truely delicious!
