Blue Wren Cafe - Dwellingup

If you are off camping or exploring the Dwellingup region and all it has to offer, don't miss out on a visit to the Blue Wren Cafe.

It could be your last stop before camping at Lane Poole, a delicious breakfast after a weekend in the wilderness or just a great place to have coffee.

With it's varied and well priced menu the Blue Wren has it all breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a fabulous range of home baked goods and drinks to take away.

There is a core menu consisting of fresh sandwiches, rolls and wraps, burgers, fish and chips, salt and pepper squid and salads. There is also a fantastic specials board which always has great additional menu choices. We tried the curried vegetable fritters, which I have to say were delicious, especially the homemade chilli jam!

The homestyle food comes in generous portions and is all made with fresh produce. They cater for the small people very well and will prepare most dishes and drinks in children's portions. Sandwiches, wraps and rolls start from $8 and lunches from $15.

The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming, with both indoor and outdoor seating areas underneath the grape vines or a decked area out front.

There are also lots of quirky things to look at in the garden at the back which is
large enough for the children to play in whilst you finish your coffee.

The staff are very accommodating and the service is quick and friendly,
which is always a bonus when eating with a toddler. Highchairs are available and there is a change table situated in the ladies toilets. There is street parking on both sides of the street outside the cafe.

The Blue Wren Cafe can be found just off the main street in Dwellingup at 53 McLarty StreetDwellingupWestern Australia 6213Australia Google maps

Aqua Jetty - Rockingham

Aqua Jetty leisure centre is at the heart of Rockingham’s community, it’s the only aquatic and recreational centre in the area and has so much to offer the whole family.  Open all year round aqua jetty has a 50m heated outdoor pool and a heated 25m indoor pool providing recreational and lap swimming. There is also a large leisure pool with toddler beach entry and sprinklers.      The leisure pool has a large slide open Monday - Friday from 4-5pm, Saturday 10.30am - 3.30pm and Sunday from 12.30pm - 2.30pm, there is also a whirl pool in the leisure pool area. Having all these facilities under one roof makes a great day out especially if you have children of different ages and swimming abilities.    There are so many facilities at aqua jetty it really is worth checking out if you are in the local area these include; a hydro pool, a great crèche ($6 per 2h per child for non members or $4.40 per 2h, per child for members) a cafe, outdoor grassed areas with new B...

Take five Ice Cream Parlour

Take 5 Ice Cream Parlour - Baldivis Square Hot day? Take 5 and go get some ice cream from Take 5 Ice Cream Parlour in Baldivis Square, it’s truely delicious! We went along to check it out and now understand why the locals queue up outside this ice cream shop, it’s just the best ice cream.   We couldn’t choose which flavours to try they all looked so good. We eventually decided on the Ferrero, their current sell out ice cream. Salted caramel with swirls of real caramel, Bounty for the coconut lover, Banana and Nutella (my absolute favourite) and a scoop of Strawberry Sorbet for our little Miss and we were not disappointed! Fresh creamy ice cream and tangy sorbet all packed full of real flavour.    They are always trying out new and exciting flavours and combinations like white chocolate and tim tams, a pineapple sorbet and caramel slice; see their facebook page for updates and promotions.    I honestly can’t wait to go back and try some of the other flavours on o...

Logue Brook Dam @ Lake Brockman

If you are thinking of going camping over the next long weekend or in the school holidays why don't you check out Logue Brook Dam on Lake Brockman. Situated  in the Darling Scarp near the town of Yarloop about an hour and half's drive south of Perth, you'll find Lake Brockman provides the perfect backdrop to pitch a tent and relax in the great outdoors for the weekend, plus the sunsets over the dam are pretty special!    The beautiful fresh water lake is a popular spot for weekend water ski-ing, wake boarding, kayaking and swimming. Fishing is also a popular pass time here with trout available all year round and Marron in-season (check with the tourist park about permits). There are also plenty of nature trails, walks and bike rides in and around the forest which surrounds the lake.    There are two different styles of camp sites available you can either opt for Lake Brokman Tourist Park which has both powered and non powered sites these are all situated in the ...
